I started drawing at Spring Studio almost 10 years ago... before the flood, as it were. I have produced over 3000 (revised 4/2014) drawings over that period. This is not an exaggeration and it's certainly not a monument to dedication as much as it is an artifact of discipline, or better yet, obsessive compulsion.

Spring Studio is a figure drawing resource that is, as I put it, “all naked, all the time”. There is at least one model booked for each of three sessions a day (two on Sunday) and the place is open from 9am to around 10pm. It is a legendary kind of place, as is Minerva Durham, the girl that founded it and has been running it for over 20 years.

This exhibit is a selection of 60 from the [3000]. I won’t say that these are the best of the lot, but I can say that each one of them means a lot to me. I’ve used many media and styles of drawing over the past ten years. It’s a little like a journal.
